Description
This is a mid-side EQ preset for Ableton Live’s EQ-8 plugin that is for the final stereo bus of your session when mastering. It’s set up to shelf off the wild ultra-low sub frequencies that can muddy up your track and eat up your head room. It scoops off at about 18hz in the mid section and about 35hz on the sides. Generally speaking there’s nothing in these frequency ranges you’d want to keep anyways, and at 18hz (mid section) you’ll still have plenty of the low low sub frequencies for your club shaking kicks and sub basses, while getting rid of any unnecessary low end information.
I’ve found that this works very well for 99% of my songs. It brings instant clarity and focus to the kick drum and clears up muddiness in almost any song.
