Ok so, I’ve been using my Event BAS 20/20 studio monitors for the past 10 years or so and loving them. However, they have long been an abandoned product as Event was bought out by Rode in the early 2000’s. I recently scored a (second) free pair on Facebook Marketplace- one of them works which will be an awesome backup, but the other makes a terrible screeching noise.
I’m going to be trying to repair them myself by ordering some new capacitors and soldering them in. I’m decently good at electronics repair so this shouldn’t be too difficult. I searched high and low online to find a schematic for them and there were frustratingly a lot of posts of people mentioning that they had one but never posting a link to a download. I hate when that happens.
I was able to get a hold of Event (Rode) and they sent me a schematic for the Event BAS 20/20 V3’s. I’m guessing that the internals are the same and that the only thing different with the V3’s vs the V2’s were the slightly more modern speaker box.
Anyways, I’ll be updating this post with my results of repairing them, and if it indeed works, I’ll make sure to post the parts I bought and a tutorial on how to repair them yourself as well.
Here’s the schematic Event sent me for the V3’s: DOWNLOAD

And these are the recommended tweeter replacements for the BAS20/20’s as recommended by Jumbo Sunshade:
